Joachim SACHS was from Egeln near Magdeburg. He was a burgher since 1691. He owned the farm Sachsenburg on the Kuilsrivier. He married Susanna HOLSWIG from Haszleben in Thuringia, she came out in 1691 with four children. The family repatriated in 1705.

They returned to the Cape in 1706, and Joachim works for his brother Peter Andreas. Peter Andreas was married to Jannetje Floris (dogter van Floris Slabbert). His second marriage was to Christina de Vyff (daughter of the Chinese Abraham de Vyff and Maria van Batavia)
